MHF4U Practice Tests: Grade 12 Advanced Functions

MHF4U (Grade 12 Advanced Functions) is live on Martian Lab: 7 units of interactive lessons and 115 practice tests built from real Ontario tests. Unit reviews walk you through every concept with detailed, simple explanations before you attempt any practice tests.

What MHF4U Covers

MHF4U (Advanced Functions) builds on the foundations you learned in MCR3U. The Ontario curriculum for this course includes:

Polynomial Functions

Characteristics of polynomial functions, degree and end behaviour, families of polynomials, and graphing.

Polynomial Equations

Factoring polynomials, the remainder and factor theorems, solving polynomial equations, and polynomial inequalities.

Rational Functions

Properties of rational functions, asymptotes, solving rational equations, and graphing.

Trigonometric Ratios

Radian measure, special angles, the unit circle, and proving and applying trigonometric identities.

Trigonometric Functions

Graphing sinusoidal functions with transformations, amplitude, period and phase shift, and solving trigonometric equations.

Exponential & Logarithmic Functions

Properties of logarithms, solving exponential and logarithmic equations, and applications.

Combining Functions

Sums, differences, products, quotients, and composition of functions. Average and instantaneous rates of change, and an introduction to the concept of a limit.

Why MHF4U Is Challenging

Advanced Functions is widely considered one of the hardest courses in Ontario's Grade 12 math sequence. It moves faster than MCR3U, introduces more abstract concepts, and requires strong algebraic fluency. Many students who did well in Grade 11 Functions find themselves struggling for the first time in MHF4U. The best way to prepare is to practice with real tests and work through step-by-step solutions. That's exactly what Martian Lab gives you.
